I second the bird of prey. We have great horned owls around our place that look like they would have no problem carrying off a rabbit.
 
No way a bird did that, very unlikely a bird thats eats rabbits would do such a thing without leaving obvious wing marks in the snow. Based on that.... it was aliens for sure, most likely from the northern quadrant of the milky way....pesky buggers they are.
