Traveling To Canada With A DUI

That is the WORST story I've ever heard regarding a US/Canada border crossing. I think that would have cured me permanently.

They have X-ray trucks that move slowly by your vehicle now.

I have worked in Canada for the last three years, a few weeks at a stint. In 2020 it was Covid, they were turning around seasoned technicians at the border driving in, some of those guys had been in Canada working for the last 10 years. No obvious reasons other than their "paperwork" wasn't right, as in they hadn't been vaccinated. They flew me in, much less hassle and more predictable results at the airport vs side of the road at a border crossing.
Said that to say Canada can be a hard place to enter, even when you don't have any issues.

If I remember correctly, a group of guys on a Gunwerks podcast that had hunted the world over stated Canada was the toughest place to go with gun in tow.
