Here is Thunderbeast's testing on a few mid-size cans for comparison. the Ultra 7 G2 actually tested better than the Dominus, and it's lighter...

Just went to their web site and it still shows the dominus is more capable in a short barrel creed. For example dominus is good to 12.5 vs 14.5 for the ultra. Still shows 2db less as well. It is slightly heavier at 9.6 ounces vs 8. Conclusion is that it seems better suited for lighter cartridges and short barrel but the ultra seems better suited for heavier cartridges in shorter barrel. Not sure how all that works but looking at the application notes is the best practice for determining what you need. I need to get out and dirty my dominus and see what field results tell me vs the internet.

Thunderbeast demo team at the 2023 Texas Precision Rifle Expo. Ultra 7 is third from the right. Don't be a Poor, buy the big one! It was totally awesome on a .50BMG

We emptied that ammo can.

I have the Ultra 7, Gen 2 in .30 and love it. I shot the Magnus also at the demo. I mulled and fretted for 6 months over the 7 vs the 9 and OOS everywhere when I was shopping.

One thing not often mentioned is "tone". DB isn't every thing. I've shot the old TB .30P1 and it's has a wonderful tone. Sounds like a mortar going off in the movies. You can pick it out from anywhere on the firing line. Shoot them both if possible, and listen to both of them being shot.

The only Thunderbeast bad choice is no choice!

TBAC and JA Outdoors is a good combo! I went Ultra 7 (cb) and am very pleased with it. On a 28 Nosler, now friends can stay seated and not leave the bench when it's on the line. Long, yes - but light and very little POI shift.
Good luck with your decision, I think you'll be satisfied with either.

Did they do the paper work and etc for the suppressor stamp?

Actually I did that at a LGS in Thomasville, NC (The Gun Shop). They have a Silencer Shop kiosk that made everything easy, all in one place. But unless they recently changed, they don't carry TBAC. I was pretty certain the Ultra 7 Gen2 is what I wanted, so I ordered it from Wes - he had it there very quickly.

I concur. I followed a similar path with JA Outdoors and a local GS (Royal Range). I just wish I purchased two (Dominus and Ultra 7). My stubbornness in thinking I really didn't need a suppressor was one of the most dumb positions I have taken in shooting rifles.
