Target/ELR 375 HE..

Yes folks can use shellholder action, but many don't like them
and some fat bolt ones are only few hundred more in singleshot.
I recommend single shot for ELR

Shellholders are strong but for some seem inconvenient
when shooting prone with a time limit, and actions costing few
hundred more just as good as ones costing 3-5 grand....

As for not having cases formed with real sharp shoulder angle
the chamber is test chamber for forming now and we made it with
various tools, reamers, etc, Don,t have CNC,When wildcattng process
and case results are what we want down to exact specs then
we will get exact reamer done, and reamer guys will make for all doing this.
We may leave the shoulder corner with WEA rounded effect if
reamer guys can do it easy...will help gas and heat flow,

For right now we will wildcat cases from BMG brass. I know our case is
a superior design, look at the shape of the powder space between the two,
in picture. I been doing this for many years, and it works great..

Powder space proportions and shape are what counts, space inside ours starts
parallel sided, with total .030" taper, long case,as long as possible to make
it, should be longer, and shallower neck than sharp shouldered cases.
I design from the inside of the case as much as possible..........................

Others take bmg case, blow it out, give real steep shoulders, shorten, but inside
of case angles out, then steep shoulder so they get their sought after
cleaner burn inside the case nonsense., but doing that more of powders
energy is lost to heat and friction, like 2.5%.....probably more..

Ain't much, but if comparing cases with 280gr powder that is 6.5gr
of energy extra that could be pushing bullet. ...6.5gr powder is 1200 ft lbs
of potential energy, which with 500 gr 416 bullet gives extra 150 fps...

First thing, we want max speed at regular high pressure, not having to go
to ultra high 80k psi pressures..I used same idea with the belted straight,
700HE and it outran any blown out, necked down 700 anyone ever did ,
with cases never wearing out. Same for my 585 derived cases..Ed.

The 416 HSM info, reamer specs when ready, etc, public domain,

More about case shape, necked cases have very poor efficiency

in getting potential energy of what the powder has in total,

so any increases that case design can bring about makes

difference for getting a winner. You know 50 fps here, 150 fps

there, another 100, and soon your out front..Ed

Ed - please remind me, or advise, regarding the 416 HSM's rim diameter and base diameter (right at the top of the extractor groove). And not a belted case, right?

Also, please advise - you are currently machining the INSIDE of .50 BMG cases for your samples, thinning the walls near the base?

And regarding 416 HSM brass - you are going to be the only source? And the headstamp is going to be what?

Finally, what's the primer size you are planning - large rifle or .50 BMG or ?

Thanks.

Tentatively base is .740'', rim ,730", no belt case.

We are only machining the outside..First machine rim

and extractor groove, them machine a little near base,

push through 1st die base first, machine again push through 2nd die,

then machine, then anneal, then size regular way from top,

then do the necking with neck inserts, fire form. Uses bmg primers

can easily be headstamped or engraved 416 HSM over lettering there.

Got to use bmg case with big inside radius like in picture;

When we anneal we do inch from base up fast, then quench

so too much heat can't get to the head of case..

I don't want to be only supplier, anyone who wants to make them

I'll supply instructions, case will be public domain. Ed

Shell holders: I'm making shell holders for presses.

Regular shell holders that can be used in any standard press, will not have a primer hole. Priming and de-priming will have to be done some other way. First ones prototyped in nylon. Second prototype in 6061-T6 has spec drawings and machining steps worked out.

7/8-14 screw in shell holder for Ammomaster 2 and others with screw in shell holders. This one can be used with the Ammomaster 2 .315 priming adapter. First ones prototyped in nylon. Second prototype in 6061-T6 is threaded, turned, drilled for primer hole. I just have to cut the feed slot and rim groove.

Brass: I'm working with Ed to make brass with a slightly different technique.

I'm also looking at how to make reamers. Just for me. Before anyone says boo about that, long ago they were made with less capable machines and tooling than what I have. Appropriate steel is available from Online Metals

Here is comparison of our 416 target cases, 1st is 416 HE, which we have a whole bunch of. Second is a model of what I'd have Bruce make on his medium machine, if I could, the 416 HE Long. Third is our 416 HSM which we are working on making by wildcatting bmg cases, If I could for target use I'd also make 375 HE longer.. Ed..

Bryan Litz just recently shot 3 shot group at 2 miles using Paul
Phillips heavy barreled, target rifle built by Lethal Precision in
375 Lethal Mag(585HE necked down, very similiar to 375HE )...
It grouped 17.5 inches tall by 22 inches wide.

I understand that there was 2-3 times as many guys wanting
to try the 2 mile shoot at Whittington than there was openings for.
So check out Tonopah, NV 2-Mile Match Aug 24 - 26, 2017
Dates are August 24 to 26 (site zeros on the 23rd)

Applied Ballistics shooter Mitch Fitzpatrick just hit 3 of 5 at 3520 yards,

this weekend at Valdina Ranch , west of San Antonio.

Using the 375 LM, similar to our 375 HE.

A great accomplishment at the 2017 World's Longest Shot Challenge. Ed

The experimental model of 416 HE long, in the middle in

picture has capacity of 230gr, unfireformed,.. Ed

Only if we can raise about 50 grand for

producing big order, and getting them imported,

as I can't do them from cases I have here, Ed

Yes the HSM go faster, it is near the ideal,

be nice have variety of sizes.for different guns

guys want to use.. Ed

About 2 mile military sniper shot kill of Isis soldier
in Iraq that is the latest news...

By Paul Philips, from FB...

In response to the latest amazing 2.1 mile Canadian Armed forces
sniper shot in question, A lot of my friends have been asking
if this is possible or not.

If there are any doubters out there?!

There will be many events in the USA where you can come watch 1-2 mile
shots. Visit ELR Central, FB, for more Information. The science of
accuracy and improvement of rifle components have made this possible.

Below is a photo of a 17x22 inch consecutive 3 shot group @ 2.05 miles
made with my 375 Lethal Mag. Bryan Litz on the trigger and
Emil Praslick on the wind.

In the other photo, these 3 impacts were made by fellow team mates
Mitchell Fitzpatrick, Derek Rodgers and Bryan Litz. Emil Praslick
and Paul Phillips on the wind. All three impacts were made with only
3 rounds each. So within 3 rounds for three shooters in a row we were
able to make impacts on a 36 inch plate (1 moa) at 2 miles or 3613 yards.

The purpose behind our research is to help improve technology
and increase our hit % at extreme ranges. This will help save
lives and bring our troops home safely.

Semper - Fi !!

Mitch was last years 2 mile shoot winner and Mitch's shop
built Paul's big gun..Ed
