i just purchased this rifle. took it to the range to zero it in. i noticed that the bolt catches on the magazine when cycling the round in the chamber. is this normal if not what would the solution be to fix this.

The clip is held by a bracket along its rear edge. It's the one you slide the clip onto when you install it.
That bracket and its angle is VERY susceptible to the torque of the screw that holds it in place. If the torque is nor perfect then the clip will not line up, and you will have your exact problem.
It may take several attempts at tweaking that screw to fix the problem. I've had to do it twice on my Dad's rifle, and it can be frustrating.
