Opinions on Rangefinding Binos

I guess I must have received the GOLDEN nugget pair of Leica 3200.com binos..

Me too. Mine work awesome w/ the Kestrel pairing. I don't care for the onboard program but its sufficient out to medium ranges.

Hopefully one day, 1 of the big 3 optics companies will get smart and put AB onboard. If/when that happens, I'll trade them in. Until then, the 3200.com is the best option a rangefinding bino w/ premium glass.

We bought 2. 1 works with the BT pairing to link and the other does not. Waiting for leica to warranty repair or replace my brand new bino's.

Not sure who you purchased from but my dealer guaranteed my pair would work. Said they've had to update the firmware on all of them. They also promised to handle it directly vs waiting on Leica customer service.

From Leica direct. Outfitter program.

Yeah, I was being a little sarcastic about the range. The ballistics app seems to work ok, but high end things like spin drift, coriolis aren't considered.
No just high end. How about wind and G7 coefficients? Blows my mind the big three can't figure this stuff out when sig and vortex can. Complete lack of understanding of US customers base by European companies. I mean, how long did it take Swaro to put the range button in the proper place?

This has been a great thread. It seems to be really hard to find solid descriptions of how each of the various models function in real world scenarios and how good the user interface is. Nice to see it here. I haven't tried any of them in the field because every time I've looked through a pair in the store, I've had a hard time focusing on the target and the readout simultaneously. I'm left eye dominate and far as I know they all read out on the right side. Be really nice if this could be switched back and forth.

I have the fury ab, the glass may not be on the same level as the top end swaro/zeiss/leica but then niether is the price. They function as a rangefinder very well, and the ballistic solver runs as it should. I will have to play with the wind capture a bit to see how I like that function, easy enough to do, but you are still guessing the wind over the distance of the shot.

I do like that if you have them mounted on the tripod you can remotely trigger them from the app. In the bit of longer distance playing with them I have done that seems to really help when you are ranging past 2k yards.

For those wanting to understand what the Leica 3200.com will do with onboard ballistics, see the screen shot below. Basically, you enter this into the app then upload the curve to the Bino. As previously mentioned, it also measure temp, inclination, and pressure. From this perspective, the big 3 are pretty much the same.

Now for what you can't do — wind, correalis, spin drift, G7 Bc, elevation and a lot more. You can however get all that from the kestrel.

I bought a Leica bino-rangefinder a couple years ago and LOVE them! It's such a breath of fresh air not having to haul around both pairs! Fumbling back and forth between both of them prior to a shot! I can relax and get a quick, accurate distance reading in a matter of a fraction of a second! Also no worry about elevation gain or loss....it's all taken care of! The clarity of the Leicas in low light is amazing. I've had mine beside Swaro's and they look just as impressive or possibly a little better.

I've used mine on several sheep, mtn goat, deer, antelope, and elk hunts in all different climates from below zero to wet and soggy in Alaska...never a problem!

Man you nailed it. They can sure make some nice glass, but they need to collaborate with some US engineers for the electronic technology aspect.

I am left dominant too and don't have an issue with the leica display. You might be surprised how well the display works

IMO the perfect rangefinding Bino would be a combo Swaro Glass, Leica/Zeiss Rangefiner, vortex fury w/ AB onboard ballistics solutions.

there's no telling what I would pay for that.

I have the Sig Saur BDX 3000. I love them. I have used them on my 280 AI, &mm WSM, 6.5 x 280 AI, 22 x 243 AI with lots of success. Whe I hunt for 10 days at a time, I always take 2 extra batteries with me. I like the glass and the ability to sinc my rifle to my scope. I have hunted all over Africa, Mexico and South Texas w/no issues.
