Newbie Barrel Purchase Question

I am considering getting a Krieger barrel to replace the factory barrel in my Rem 700 Sendero 7mm STW. I see some 7mm varmint/Sendero contours on Krieger's site. When I purchase the barrel, do they thread it and crown it before shipping or is that to be done by the gunsmith?

Gunsmith will thread, chamber, and crown the barrel. I would talk with your smith first before ordering the barrel, that way you are both on the same page, and you can order exactly what is needed for the desired outcome. You can also have the barrel shipped directly to the gunsmith, which is usually what I do.

This. Due to your relative inexperience, definitely consult with your riflesmith.
The smith can also order it for you (at the same cost, or less than you'd pay Krieger); and there are some retailers that stock their blanks you might be able to purchase from. Doesn't appear Krieger has Sendero contour in stock in 7mm.

Keep in mind that Krieger is currently projecting lead times of 9-10 months on new orders.

This above is what I would buy, it's the right twist and length to make a 28", 27" or 26" barrel from.
