Forgive me guys but.... I have a Mcmillian stock with an old Remington action mounted in it now. I was thinking about purchasing a new action for it but don't know if you can replace or change out an action. It's a long action 300wm.

I'm not a builder so I need to find a smith to do the work. Since I don't know any I am looking for advice and recommendations on a smith in Northern CA so I don't have to ship parts. The guy that built this rifle has retired.

If you have an action in mind I would just contact Mcmillan and see if it was compatible with your stock. If it fits the rifle it should fit the stock if not just minor fitting easily done by you.

In general you should be able to remove the action - with the barrel and trigger attached.

The action you want to use might drop right in.
