m77 action in 338 lapua/ norma mag

I need your guy's input on this. Can I re barrel a standard m77 and open up the bolt face to accept 338 lapua? I was thinking of buying a 300 win mag m77, and eventually re-barreling it. I know Remington actions can accept this pressure, but am un-familiar with re barreling rugers. I want a new long range gun in a 338 lapua or norma mag.

The Ruger mag box will only take up to around 3.340" COAL. Probably a little short for a big .338.

Thanks. I know I could get M77 RSM, but those are a lot more than I'm willing to spend on a base gun.
