i am in the last stages of getting my custom 260 done well my gun smith should have all of the parts next week beside the brake i have to order that. but anyway all of that is out of my hands now.
i need to start looking a reloading supplies. mainly powder.
the guy i bought my stock from shoots competitions out to 600 yards i think, anyway he told me he uses 42 grains of h1000 with a 139 bullet out of his 30" barrel in his 260 . now my barrel will only be 26"- 28" #6 Brux then a muzzle brake will be added probably a pain killer from Kirby.
from some of you that shoot 260 calibers and reloads do you have any pet loads that you would share??? my barrel will be 1-8 twist. and hope to shoot 139 lapua's. not sure why just have read nice things about them.
i know i will have to find what my gun likes. but i have lots of different powders to choose from. Besides i like to read what other people are shooting out of their rifles.

Me too! Currently being duracoated. What spec did you go for?

My intention is to shoot 139gr Lapua's out to 1000 yards. One of the local chaps who shoots in competition swears by 142's and 43gn Viht 160. It seems 42-44gr of V160 is a favourite. I intend to 'experiment' within this range and see what suits my rifle.

    Cheers

My frame is a Tube Gun style repeater all CNC machined
rem 700 action that has been squared and trued.
brux 26" 1-8 twist ss interrupted fluted.
    jeweled trigger with bottom safety
not purchased a scope but it will be a NF or IOR and probably the IOR MP-8 reticule since I already have one on my AR.
I know every gun likes it own formula but i am going to try some loads that gets posted on here because unless you give them a shot you never know how they will perform.
I too plan on shooting 1000yards.
is the Vitha powder more temperature sensitivity? that is what i heard. that it shoots great as long as the temp stay relative. I personally have never used this powder. if so that is not for me..
i know Shawn shoots a 260 with great success maybe he will chime in here. I have never met him or Kirby but have talked with them through emails. and did buy Shawns DVD which is great and worth every penny. Both seem like wonderful people.

Interesting! I went with a more tactical (but similar) set-up: AICS stock; 26inch 1:8 Border barrel; Surgeon action; Jewel trigger. I have an IOR 6-24 MP8 ret sitting in my safe ready to go on her when she arrives.

Not sure to be honest! You have to remember that I am shooting in England.....very hot day 70 degrees....to very cold day 35degrees. Most of the time we are sat between 40-60degrees! And being the brave sea-faring type that I am my preference is between 50-60degrees:D

Far East - have you had any probs with temp variation on Viht?

I'm shooting a .260 by GA Precision with either 139 Scenars or 130 Normas. It has a 26" broughton barrel. We shoot monthly F-class matches and my daughter is using this rifle with very good results.

I like H4350 for the .260. I got excellent accuracy with H4831SC, but low velocities. With H4350, I get good velocities and excellent accuracy.

I'm using 42.0 with a CCI primer in Remington brass. YMMV, and this may not be safe in your rifle, so you'll want to carefully work up to this.

that is some great groups would you happen to know what velocity you were getting with the 42gr of h4350. i really can't imagine your gun shoot a load better than the ones posted here. Thank you for sharing these with us.

    TY pressman.

    2,850 fps at about 60oF.

We shoot 800, 900 and 1,000 yards every month with it at the Quantico F-Class matches, and I've had it back to 1,200 with good results.
