I'm getting ready to buy my first Kestrel.
Been looking at the 5700 Hornady 4DOF but want to make sure I'm making the right choice.
I don't shoot Hornady bullets and I will need to get a different rangefinder. Currently have the Sig 2200 MR and love it.

I like the Hornady 4DOF app.
Is it required to connect the Kestrel with my phone to use it or does it eliminate the need for a phone app?
What's a good option for a rangefinder that will talk with this Kestrel. It appears not all Bluetooth rangefinders will work with the Kestrel 5700 Hornady 4DOF.
Should I just buy the 5700 elite?

The kestrel is a stand alone unit. You do not need your phone.

and personal opinion:
I like the 5700 elite more
