Firstly hello everyone my names mike I'm from uk Scottish highlands. I shoot a sako 85 308 stainless and a tikka tac a1 in 6.5 cm. I shot a roe buck this afternoon ranged at 397 meters. I hope to be able to learn and share my exspieriances with you all. My question is this I've recently purchased 100 shiny new Berger 155gr 308 VLD Hunting Bullets. As we are still part of the eu they in they're wisdom have at the stroke of a pen wiped out almost all imported powders. What powders do the members use Ive heard ramshot is good any help would be much appreciated. Cheers

Mike, welcome. I have friends in Elgin, Moray. I don't have a .308, wish I could help you.

Ya, lots of guys have switched to N540 in the UK due to the new changes. I would start there. Haven't used it myself, but quickload suggests it's equivalent to RL15, which works GREAT in the .308 win.

Welcome to the forum Mike! I don't have first-hand experience with other powders but I think N540 as Dmagna suggested works well.

When your out and about would you mind taking a few pictures of your countryside and post them here?

Hi Mike, I shot two roe bucks in May 2015 near Balmoral. One was a silver medal buck. We stayed in Ballater in a wonderful hotel bordering a golf course.
I must add that we absolutely loved Scotland. Great people. Wonderful hunting. Had a full Scottish breakfast every morning. I hope to return soon for a Red stag.
The rifle used was a Sako 243 topped with a Swaro shooting 60 grn Noslers I believe. Games keepers rifle.
Those roe deer have a 6th sense don't they!
My only regret was not purchasing hunting breeks!
