Hi,

I'm building a fun little rat rifle. Bolt action, .17HMR, 28" barrel. I'm looking for a LOW COST varmint scope, the longer the better [up to 24" long] just to make it look cool. Would appreciate any help or direction offered.

Both my longest shots have been with Tasco World Class. The bolt action .22 has a 6-24X40 trajectory model. I got a rock chuck at 527 yards. The other one is a 4-16X40. The elk was an even 400 yards. The eye relief was a little short on the 4-16X so replaced it with a different scope. I would not hesitate to put either of those on your .17.

I have an older 4x12 AO nikon monarch. You could add a 4" shade and be close to 19" $150 has slight ring marks otherwise very clean with nikon caps.
