Hammer 55 grain 6mm.

Just a brief update. The 55gr bullets would be great varmint bullets on smaller sized animals - say to 50 lbs or so. The Hammers are very destructive at 4200fps and do not penetrate very far before coming apart. At hyper velocity, they may not ofully penetrate a whitetail on a broadside shot at 200 or less yards. This is based on only one deer shot this year. They may do just fine at lesser impact velocity (like what we learned with the 30 cal 101 Blackout). Going forward, I'll be testing the 70 - 80 gr hunters at high velocity.
Makes sense. Being monometal doesn't automatically ensure through and through. That isn't a bad thing either. Barnes typically don't come apart, just designed different and not intended to shed petals BUT the 120 tac tx is a different animal. Meant for full expansion at 300 blackout velocity, it sheds all its petals rapidly at .300 win mag velocity (and hot .300 win, got it at 4050 fps) even on impacts at 400 yards. Still just blows right up. Not a failure per se, it's an off switch on deer sized game but beleive it or not on the two deer I got last year with that load one of them had no exit.
