Flutting post use

Just got the rifle and then I broke my shoulder so havent fired it yet. But , **** that is a heavy rifle to cary from the car to the line. My first rounds willl be next month with Lake City, Ball ammo. As to expected weight loss, not sure. I am looking into what is possible. I am leaning toward NOT fluting it and using the extra weight as recoil mitigation. It will all boil down to how it shoots with the current configuration and the big Tank Brake.

You'll have to do an aggressive fluting job to take a pound off... might get yourself a cart and roll it from the car.

This is a Hart 30" barrel at 1.300". I sent it to Kampfeld and he shaved exactly 1lb off of it by fluting. The barrel was 10.4 lbs to start with after was 9.4 lbs

I think I'd just take it to the garage...tighten it up in the vise..draw some lines on it...and take a grinder to it......bet ya could lose more than a pound off it....

Maybe a wrought iron flute....then just buff it out good.....
