Do you shoot an Ackley Improved round? Which one?

Lets see hear all AI rounds 17 hornet, 22 hornet,20-223, 223, 22-250, 243, 25-06, 280 I think that is all of them. Tim

No, you can turn just about any cartridge to Ackley improved. As long as it had less than a 40 degree shoulder to start with, you just rechamber with a 40 degree shoulder and it becomes Ackley Improved. The funniest Ackley has got to be the .22 Eargesplitten Loudenboomer (.22-378AI ).

I have a 243 AI and am shooting 105gr Amax's with great results out to 600. I had 308Nate put one of his brakes on it and now can watch my hits even up close.

I don't own one, however, my friend owns one and he loves it. He has a 6mmAI, Nesika Model K Action, 30" 1-12 Twist Krieger, Jewel trigger, ect. He pushes 70grn Ballistic Tip bullets at 3900fps. It is deadly accurate on Pdogs and Squirrels out to 800 yards.

The only AI I own is a 6mm. Its built on a Rem 788, Straight 1.20 x 26" w/a 14 twist, canjar trigger and a Mc Millan benchrest stock. This gun only likes flat base bullets with the exception of Nos BT's. The best performer is a Hor 70gr SP makes one tiny hole. 70gr BT's also make one hole.

It will even shoot heavier flat base bullets suprisingly well 85gr Sierra SP and 87gr Hor SP. I tried a 95gr BT but it wouldn't stabilize.

This is the most accurate gun I have had to date. Varmint's don't stand a chance.

22-378 Weatherby and 223, 22 lr, 22 pellet.

I am reallly new to this and really don't understand the whole ackley thing. Do you have to rechamber your rifle or can you shoot them in a regular gun..
