Have a nice load developed for my Rem 700 in 270. I am 1gn short of max load and want to try federal primers(210) I finally got my hands on.
Is backing off my H-4831SC by one whole grain sufficient enough to try a different primer? There are no pressure signs where I am at now.
Been using CCI LRP(200) up to now. FPS is 2906 +/- 4

I think that is sufficient. I backed off 1 gr when testing CCI250 and F215 primers in a 300 RUM and it was plenty. 1 gr in the 270 is actually more even volume wise. I found the F215 hotter in the RUM. But lot to lot it might easily go the other way as different people seem to get different results from time to time.

It sometimes will cause a change but I've never seen a drastic jump upwards when changing primers but sometimes there's an amazing difference in group size. A grain or grain and a half if you feel the need will be fine..good luck..
