I wasn't trying to beat anybody up, but I had to laugh. I bore sight my scopes to start with and go from there to the range or at the range. Mounting is where the real care needs to take care. Plumb is the name of the game, between the firearm and the scope. I would do it by eye, and how with equipment to set the scope plumb. A few hundred yards doen't make much difference, but extending the yardage can prove to problem.
