In your opinions what is the best bang for your buck for around 1k. Im going be shooting 100 to about 500 yards. The scope will be going on my savage long range hunter 7mm mag. Friends of mine tell me to get a nightforce but i dont really want to spend 1700 to 2000 on a scope. THanks

Sightron S-III choose your power. I really like the LRMOA reticle.

I really like my 10x50x60 SIII and 6x24x50 LRMOA SIII Sightrons. For $1k I don't believe you can find a better scope. My two sons also have a 6x24x50 LRMOA and each took a nice buck this year.

That's probably the best 1,000 scope on the market new.

I'd prefer a 30mm Obj but it's hard to find a Mk 4 or even VXII 30mm in the same range used under 1k.

The next closest would be the Vortex Viper PST.

Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x50 or Conquest HD5 5-25x50 would be the best for the money, and will more than handle 500 yards no problem.

I would recommend a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP EBR-1 MOA Reticle Scope

I have 3 of them and absolutely love them!

Chris you won't find a better long range scope for 1,000$ than the new Zeiss HD 5-25x50 scope. I'm a huge Zeiss, Swaro, and Kahles fan.

I don't know how the heck Zeiss did it for the price, but this scope is on par with Swaro's 5x25s and they are 1,600 bucks. Zeiss will be phasing out the old Conquest line for the new HD line. With this scope you're getting Zeiss Multi T coatings plus the louatec coatings for 1,000$. Thats almost unheard of being that the scope itself is made in Germany. Consider this scope a STEAL at 1,000 dollars. I'm getting one for my Sako 85 Finnlite 7mm mag for sure. I had to keep hitting the refresh button and called around to several stores to see if that 1,000 price was right.

I have owned or shot with all of the scopes spoken of. I have had huge success with LEUPOLD for the $$$$ you cant beat them..
    vx3 6.5-20x50-30mm or 8-25.. Both exceptional..

Tube.... where's the slap yourself Icon when you need it?

My preference is for 50mm Obj's and 30mm Tubes.
