Best powder for 338 Lapua AI and 6mm AI

I think the cases should use a pretty similar burn rate powder, I will be using 300's in the 338 and 115's in the 6mm.

I would rather buy powder in bulk and save a bunch of money, than use a different powder for each just to gain 25 fps.

So, in conclusion, what powder should work optimally in both cases with heavy bullet weights?

According to Quickload, IMR 7828 should give 3350 fps from 115's in the 6mm, (seems fast) and US869 will give 2900 fps in the 338. (seems slow)

It seems like the best choices would be:

H1000
Retumbo
Reloder 25
US869


Or maybe another?

What does QL say for the 338LAI, 300g SMK and H-50BMG?

It's a friend who has Quickload. Probably very slightly less since H50 BMG is next faster in burn rate according to my charts.

Think you will find that MRP and MRP2 work extremely well along with what has been mentioned and gives very good fps and consistent. Graf and Black hills has it.

I would start out with Retumbo. I have used it in 338 EDGE, 7STW, all the way down to my 25-06. It is a great performer in whatever I shoot it in, and seems to give me the best velocities as well.
