As noted, contour is a compromise. Melvin usually builds his NULA's with a light contour, but he used a Douglas #4 for the 28" barrel I wanted in .284. That gave me 7 mag velocities with accuracy and portability. It weighs about 7.5 lb. with scope etc. Since the rest was so light, I could go with a substantial barrel and still have a light package.
