I am in the middle of breaking in a new savage 25-06 and finding a load for my 300rum moose gun, so I have been cleaning both rifles a lot lately. What I have noticed is that the majority of the fouling comes out really easy but as the guns comes clean and I start pushing dry patches down the barrel one or two riflings keep leaving black marks.

I have ran as many as 10-15 dry patches down the barrel in a row and still get a single dark line on the same spot on the patch. Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem.

Thanks
Steve

Are you using a bore guide? You may just have a dirty chamber as they can collect excess solvents and make it appear you have some dirty riflings.
