What is the preffered routine to break in a barrel.

Rem 700 24" ss 270 WSM barrel, I can buy factory rounds first so that I can keep the brass....I have 150 Nosler Ballistic tips but no brass yet. I would like to end up shooting the 140 NAB. Any help would be great.

There are two stages to properly breaking in a rifle.

First stage.

1 - Get a bunch of ammo.

2 - Take ammo and other shooting junk to the range.

3 - Sight in the rifle.

4 - Shoot a bunch of ammo

5 - Clean the rifle.

6 - Go home.

Stage two.

1 - Take rifle to field.

2 - Shoot critters or rocks or anything else (but not neighbors cat), to check zero.

3 - Go home.

4 - Clean rifle.

It is now "broken in"

.

Stage III

1 - Take rifle to porch, sit on couch

2 - Shoot neighbors cats

3 - Drink Beer and listen to "dueling banjos"

4 - Clean rifle

I was hoping you guys would give a little more technical answer like:

Gather rifle caliber magnamus

Stock pile ammo

Set up video to capture ballistic energy corpusalure mist

Fire at will at all Felis Catus specimens

E-mail video to fellow technicians for review.

gyv,

You need to re-read the guidelines for this forum
