Alliant Reloader 17 in a 30 06 load?

Have tried several different powders in my 06 and always go back to IMR 4350, think they were made for each other.

I worked up my most accurate load yet with RL17. It is 180 grain accubond with 56.5 grains, CCI 200 primers, and an OAL of 3.41". This load is clocking 2820 fps and is grouping 3/8" on calm days and 1/2" on a brezzy day. This is going to be my hunting load this season.

I tried RL17, Retumbo and H1000 in my 25-06. On the Nosler site, the Retumbo was the highest velocity powder they listed fpr 110 gr bullets. RL17 beat it by about 200 fps in my Sendero. I got 3500 fps with 55 gr/110 AB's and no pressure signs.

It also beat H4350 by 200 fps in my 300 WSM with 67.5 gr/180 E-Tips.

I found the Alliant max loads 1-3 gr light in *MY* rifles.

im back from range was testing re17 200sbt gamekings 52gr cci250primerc.o.al 67.82mm @100 yrds 1'' -doesnt cut for me,but @500mtrs no vertical 250mm square plates were hit 4 out of 4times 3'' group gota test some more

I tried it with my Ruger m77 30-06 with marginal success with 150's, but with 180's I was getting 1/2" groups. It seems to work better with the heavier 180's using 54 grains of the Rl 17..

Glen- you do not say what rifle. what you are shooting at? my go to load is 50.5 of varget and a 168 berger , CBT or ballistic tip or 165 partition . lapua brass 210m or br-2 primer. h/i 4895, and I 4064 do as well. I/h4350 , re-17,19 and 22 may give you 50 fps more.

I worked up to 58.5g with the lapua 167g Scenar where I found my rifles max. Best accuracy was 56.5g. YMMV. From Nosler brass with CCI 200. It runs 2,860 fps in my 10 twist 24" barreled weapon. Its spelled a DRT and a free ride in the back of my truck for several white-tail. The closest, 43 yards and the furthest being 260yards. I can readily break 3,000 fps with accuracy using either a 150g nosler BT or the hornady 150g SST.
Personally, I prefer slower burn rate powders with any heavier projectiles. YMMV
