Im looking for any advice for my 7mm rum I have Nozler 140 gr and IMR 7828 any help would be appreciated I also have Nozler 160 gr this is giving me gray hair

I loaded some for my son's brother in law with the 180 Berger that shot far better than any of the lighter bullets we tried. The 7 RUM has a very large powder capacity which lends the advantage to heavier projectiles IMO.

my bdl shot 160 acubonds well @ 3.680 just fit the magazine with 89 gr of rl 25 for 3085 fps it would shoot half inch groups at a 100 yrds kind of slow but that is where it shot well in a unbraked sporter configuration for me

I currently shoot the 7828 ssc with the Barnes 150ttsx. Easy to tune, crazy good accuracy, fun to shoot. I shoot a 7 RUM sendero, however I load this same round for a friend with a standard BDL and it shoots just as good out of his rifle as it does mine. IMR 7828 was designed for the STW, and I have found it works great in the RUM's.

well, from Nosler's data they show 85.0 7828 to start and 89.0 7828 as top load using their 140 grain offerings in the 7rum. They list top load at 3459 fps....

I've roasted a few critters with 140's doing 3400+ fps out of a 7rum or 7stw but the farther your range, the better the heavy pills are. If you don't plan on going over 500 yards, use the 140 if it's stout enough for you, but if you plan on stepping out from mid range, go with a 175-180 and rl25, rl33, rl50, retumbo, 50bmg, etc.. The 160's would be a good middle ground, but something like rl25, rl33, or retumbo will push them better than rl22 or 7828.
