Wow talk about a time capsule

Thanks

Buck
Yep fond memories for sure especially with the Savage 22 pump. My dad had me shooting it probably when I was 4. Would not let me have a BB gun, but let me take the 22 out all the time. Shot several thousand rats with that rifle

In 1949 my father bought me a new model 141 Rem pump in 35 rem. It cost $104.95.
And that was a higher price than most other guns at the time.
In the early 70s you could still buy a new Rem 700 for $200.
And i bought quite a few used ones in that era just for the actions for $100. I still have a nice 60s vintage 700 in 280 that i bought for $100 including a set of Lyman dies.

I bought my first gun at 15 years old. I worked all year and real hardship saving up money to buy a Remington 270 just like my dad's. July was my birthday and I wanted that rifle bad. It was 352 dollars. I had saved 316. My dad gave me the difference for my birthday and I was one happy teenager.

Thanks

Buck
