I'm currently having Travis at rbros build me a 300 RUM off of a current action and had a few questions on loads. Currently I've been running 208 A max bullets but plan on switching it up. 210 Berger's is what he'll work up for me but I was curious if anyone has run the 215's. I know it's a target bullet but curious if anyone's used em hunting? It just has such a better BC, thanks for any input

Look up Broz's thread on the 215 for hunting. It's a long one, but has tons of valuable and great information. I personally shoot 208gr ELDs and so does my cousin in his 300 RUM. The Berger's are good bullets too, we've just have had a lot of success with the ELDs
Broz used a 300 win mag with the 215s. The bullet data is in the early pages, hunting results with impact velocities, entrance and exit pictures etc are very thorough which begins on page 6:

Don't discount the 230 gr Berger. Many of the 300 RUM shooters here use the 230. Some use the OTM, others including me use the match target hybrid.

JP, just finished testing loads for a friend's 300RUM. Tried ELDX, 210 and 215 Bergers with H1000 and Retumbo. The 210's were most accurate, but you should test several bullets since what is accurate for one may not be accurate in your barrel. Good luck

I run the 230s (300rum) at 2940 fps and wanted to try the 215 also. I tested them and came in to accuracy around 3000 fps. I decided to not switch but i would definitely shoot them if i hadn't already been shooting the 230s. the 215s shoot really good for me. ive taken elk with the 230 but not the 215. if they perform like the 230, they are very good.

I don't shoot a RUM, but use the 215's in my 300WM's.
Performance past 400yrds is very good, closer than this I don't recommend.
I had a few 230gr OTM fail to expand at 600, so I stopped using them.
I actually switched from the 210gr to the 215gr, it was a good switch, the 215's shoot better in my rifles.

Looking for load data on 300 RUM or 300 RUM A. I. using 250 grain A Tips or 250 gr Berger I understand this is an old thread Im resurrecting. thanks
