270 WSM 150 gr VLD

Well, it looks like H1000 is going to be the powder for now. I tried Retumbo up to 68 gr with 150 vld and 215M and had one five shot group at about .6 at 67.4gr at 2960 fps, anything higher was over 1 moa at 200 yards.
Today with H1000 from 66.0 to 67.0 gr grouped just over .5 moa at 200 yards at 2960 to 3020 fps. That's a wide window for an accuracy node. ( my 270 AI was laughing 150s at about 3150 +).
I'm sure that once my brass is fully formed I can reach a higher velocity node and I will continue load development after my hunting trip. I only have one or two more range trips to narrow the powder charge and verification. But I definitely want to revisit Retumbo and try RL 26.

I'm using a Weaver 3-15 ffp scope so it could be better with a higher magnification scope.

I had best results with H1000 with the 150 Berger VLDs in 270WSM. I've had best results by doing seating depth testing per Berger's recommendations first at a lower charge, then work up the powder increments using best seating depth.

Right, for now it is 67.0gr and .025 jump. It has a very short throat so there isn't much bearing surface outside of the neck but I'll try .010 jump and .010 jam next.

My load with the 150 VLDs is 67.0 gr of MagPro with a coal of 2.800 which is
0.040 off lands. Accuracy is less than 1/2 MOA, and speed is 3106.
This is the upper accuracy node for this rifle, Nosler M48C 24" barrel.
Good luck!

Forget the single base powders. This is long range hunting. This is another application where Reloader 26 will be 80 fps faster (like having 2 inches more barrel) than any of the single base powders. Go fast.

H1000 abd 150 VLDs worked like a charm. Decent 8 point for Tennessee white tail.

Got a coyote also but tried multiple times to download a pic but it must be too graphic to post because admin repeatedly refuses to let me download it.
