Capt Academy, I'm away from my load book since I took my son to see Mickey and other.., but when I get back I'll post whatever I have. I did use load posted by Zak Smith in his article about 260 Rem as baseline for my load 6.5mm Shootout: .260 Remington vs. 6.5x47 Lapua vs. 6.5 Creedmoor that's 139gr Lapua Scenar @ 2820 fps, 40.7gr H4350 and I think in my tests H4350 had very tight spread at the same time RL-17 was very close, but with better velocities.

LOL....Im still stuck in a rut using Varget and various 100-123 grain slugs. They just seem to do what I need is all???

Here are 5 loads which work best in my setup... 40.7gr H4350, 139 gr Lapua Scenar, GM210M. great to shoot bugs far-far away 40.7gr H4350, 142 gr SMK, GM210M. this one is almost like Scenar load 42.0gr RL-17, 142 gr SMK, GM210M. same as above but much faster 45.0gr RL-22, 140 gr SST, GM210M. I tried 45.5gr, but had to come down because of the pressure signs 45.0gr RL-17, 120gr SPH, GM210M. this very flat and consistent load, but I would limit it to 300 yards, I used it to take nice buck, deadly and explosive...

Before reading much about the 260 twist rates I purchased a Rem 700 CDL SF 260 that came with a 24" barrel & 1:10 twist. I pillar bedded the stock and the rifle has grown on me without firing a round. I plan to take it on an antelope hunt and to let my daughter bust whitetail with it. Let me know if I am just clinging to a bad investment because it seems that may be the case.
I realize the downfall of the 1:10 twist but does anyone have a good load & bullet combo that has worked? I like Berger Hunting VLD's so originally wanted to use the 140 grain VLD. I see that I may need to go with a shorter bullet for stability to compensate for the bad twist rate?. Any thoughts or good experiences?
I have much to learn in the 260 world so I am open to any suggestions. I appreciate any advice fellas.gun)

All is not lost. You can shoot 120grain bullets with a 1:10 twist. Although the 120s won't have the range of the 130 or 140grainers, I bet you would have sufficient energy to take a whitetail at 400+ yards.

Hey everybody,
i am new to this website and joind about a month ago to get somne info and holy smokes i just got done reading all the info about the 260 here. Coincidentally, i just got in my new barrel (krieger 24", 1-8 #10 fluted) and it is a smokin setup with a MK4 8.5x25 w/M1 knobs and 20MOA EGW.
With that said i shot it this weekend and between break in rounds (20) and cleaning and then on to 50 test loads i found some interesting info which comfirms alot of what has been said on here (go figure
Anyway the loads i tested were 123 Scenars with H4350, CCI200, 2.800, and pwder from 43.2-44.0. It seems the rifle likes the 44.0 as a high node and 43.2 as a low node. I am gonna play witht he high and low nodes and go a few grains above and below each just to retest what i shot.
the other load i shot was 140 AMX, CCI200, H4350, 2.800 and 42.1-41.7. 41.8 seemed to do the best and again i a going to do a retest just to see what i can do with a broken in barrel and also get on a better bench. the one i was on wasn't as stable as i would prefer but it still shot great.
the ES for the first load was 18.43 and the second was 9.94 all fps with hand loads. i am using a 5-0-5 RCBS scale which is accurate but my buddy is having better results with the chargemaster set. gonna pick one up. Both loads also used win 7mm-08 brass necked up. I also found that the cases need to be trimmed a bit here and there due to just a tight chamber. some cases were sticky and once fired they smoothed out but overall the win brass performed very well. no pressure signs at all.
attached are some picks of the gun and targets, still working n loads and the shooter needs to get better. i adjusted the trigger and i think i am about 1.5# on a factory rem trigger and the action is a rem 700 SA.
The pick of target 1 is my break in loads 140AMAX, 2.785, RL19, CCI200 win 7mm-08 case necked up and 44.0 grns. the five shot circled lower left is 5 shots w/cleaning after each shot. middle center is 3 shots consecutive then cleaning, and the last two in the orange dot are my last two then cleaning. top left is 5 shots then cleaning and then another 5 shots and cleaning.
top right is my best group with 44.0 grn H4350 w/123s scenars with H4350 from 44.0,43.8,43.6, 43.4 and 43.2 .moved to the center, lower left, lower right and botttom right. i was shooting from a folding plastic table and a bench rest so i moved a bit. we are working on putting a solid table permanatly in at the range so movement is minimzed but for what i was doing it worked just fine.
if anybody has some more info that might help info is always welcome. thanks

Welcome!!! There is plenty of load info on the 260 on this thread, it's been a great help to me.
The 260 is a great round and I switched to it from a 308. I shoot the 140 Amax's, H-4350, 42.5 grains. They shoot 1/2" or better. Pretty much everythting I shoot in my 260 does very well. Still playing with 142 SMK's and H-4831 sc which also does very well. Using Fed 210 M primers.

The initial load in my 260 was with the 142smk and H4831. While accuracy was outstanding, velocity was disappointing. Have found best velocity results with H4350.

First off, 2.785" is waaaay too short for the 140 grain bullets. You're seating way too deep and eating up space that could be used for powder and it's costing you velocity. That loss of velocity is going to eat up a and probably more gain than you'd get by using the higher BC 140s. If your chamber and magazine allow it, seat those 140s out further. I'm seating to 2.800" OAL with 129 gr bullets.
I haven't used H4350 yet, but it's on my to do list. I was also disappointed with H4831sc and got my best velocity and accuracy with RL22.
I have a Savage Model 10 Predator Hunter in 260 coming my way and I'm interested to see what it will do with a 24" 1:8 twist tube compared to my pencil 20" 1:9 model seven barrel.
I haven't used H4350 yet, but it's on my to do list. I was also disappointed with H4831sc and got my best velocity and accuracy with RL22.

If your chamber is cut like my Savage LRP, OAL to the lands is 2.864" with 142SMK's and 2.911 with Berger 140VLD's. 2.888" for 140 V-Max. Shoots all into .5MOA or better. H4831sc. Twist is 1:8.

I am running 142 SMK's, OAL 2.914@ 2788 fps out of a 24" Brux barrel with 42.5 grains of H- 4350 1/2 MOA or better. Fed 210M primers

Ref my last post, sorry that is the load for my 260 with the 140 A-Max. I guess I have SMK's on the brain, as I am planning on working up that load next.
