About that neck thickness I should add that you can't expect serious precision from necks so thick.
And before you say to yourself 'no problem, I'll just turn the necks', prepare yourself for what it takes to do it.
Unless you have one of them fancy IDOD turning lathes, you'll find it a challenge. Normal turning equipment, with normal expansion/turning mandrels, are not ideal for necks with this kind of spring back.
A lot of people, including competitors who have built around the WSSM, have failed to reach good result.
Their failures are not the fault of the WSSM, but of their lack of planning.
They did not account for sufficient barrel steel around a magnum diameter case. For needed breech support, for proper feeding, for ejection, for neck thickness. They didn't purchase Win reloading brass and measure it up front -before filling out a reamer print and having proper chamber and dies cut.
And if you want to go with something in WSSM, get an action designed for it. I would suggest Savage.
It's not all bad. I built a 26WSSM IMP with a custom BAT magnum action.
I could have gone 260AI (matching capacity), but I wanted to explore WSSM, and fitted chambering.
It turned out fantastic, and I learned a lot that I could not have otherwise.
