Hi, I have a Savage model 12 270wsm with a 26in barrel. I just picked up a Nikon Monarch 6-24x50 for a really good price. I was wondering if I used a 20moa base with medium Burris Xtreme Tactical Rings would I still be able to dial down for a 100 or 200 yard shot or would the 20moa base be to high?

We need to establish more info.
1. What maximum range do you want your scope to shoot?
2. What weight bullet and velocity
These numbers are approximate but your scope of choice has a maximum internal adjustment of 30MOA as currently built. That's 15MOA up and 15MOA down so a 20 MOA base will cause you to lose 5MOA of upward adjustment.

For greater flexibility with your 20moa base, use the Burris Weaver style rings with inserts.
