I recently had a .300 win mag built and I've been thinking about hunting with the 200gr. Accubond.

The gun is a Rem 700 that's been trued with an oversized recoil lug and a Lilja 26" fluted #4 contour barrel with a 3 groove 1/11 twist.

I have a load worked up in a Rem 700 PSS in 300 win mag and I'm getting 3070fps and with incredible accuracy. My thought is that If I get my new custom rig up to that performance, or near with accuracy, it might be the ticket. But if it doesn't work, then I was toying with the idea of a 200gr. Sierra GK or the 180 Scirocco.

I'm just looking for feed back like anyone else.

I have a BVSS Savage with 26 in barrel in 300 WM that loves the 200 gr AB at 2850 ft/sec behind H-1000 powder. Very accurate to 850 yds. at my range. This barrel didn't like 180 gr bullets or less as well as 200 gr and AB was the winner for best accuracy. Good luck!

Thanks for the input. I read the other threads on it but I wanted to see if guys like you were still using the slug or if you were on to something else.

Thanks again.

3070 PS from a 300 Win. How long do the cases last? ( How many loadings per case?)

You'd be surprised about this load. Here's the details and then I'll talk.

.300 Winchester Magnum
Rem 700 PSS (STOCK) 26" Barrel
Nosler Brass
FED 215M Primer
73.5gr. RL 22
200gr. Accubond seated with .002 compression into the lands.
SD: ~8-10
Velocity: 80 Degrees: 3070fps 25 Degrees: 3050fps

This load is really nice to shoot. Primers aren't poker-chip flat and the recoil is really mild for some reason that I can't figure out. I'm on my ~7th reload on this batch of brass and the primer pockets are still tight.

Wow, sounds like you've got a great load. the ABs are awesome and accuarcy should not drop off with your set up. I'm using a 27 in. lilja 1-10 for my 300 rum. 200grn accubonds with 91.5 H1000. Nosler brass and F215 primers @3150. I dont know much about the 3 groove in 1-11 twist. But I am betting that a 200 grn bullet is right on the edge for a 1-11 barrel. non the less you wont know til you try. And after a few rounds if they dont shoot you can always send me the remaining bullets :)

good luck!

I can say I was a little worried about the twist on that barrel after having it put together but then I saw that BERGER recommends a 1/11 twist for the 210 VLD.

The only issue between the two now I see is the difference in baring surface. But it's all theory of course until lead goes down range.

3070 fps sounds like a good load. I have been testing Berger 210 & 190 HVLDs along with Nosler 200 ABs in my Rem 700 in 300WM. Using my friends chrono, I've been getting some great numbers. With a 73.0gr load of RL22, my 200ABs are averaging 3049 fps. I'm well under 3000fps with the 210s, but the 190s are clocking with the 200ABs. I have been seating my bullets just off the lands. Getting ready to order the CDS dials for the 200AB load.
