I would like to try the Hornaday 162 AMax in my Winchester model 70 coyote chambered in 7mm WSM.

The questions that I have for anyone that have tried them is.

1. Is the 9 1/4 twist rate fast enough to stableize them.
2. Is the BC. actually what Hornaday says.
3. What powder is the best to try.

Most of my shooting will be at 600.
Any help will be great help.

I've ment to post this in reloading.

The 162 amax will stabilize fine with your twist.
The bc seems to be right
I have found IMR 7828ssc to be the best powder for my rifle. Start with64-65grains and work up,

my 17.5 inch 7wsm pistol with a 9twist stabilized them just fine, got a 5-6 inch 500 yard group my first time shooting that far.

Today was the first chance I've got to work up a load using the Amax.

I tried H-1000. Started at 67.5g and worked up to 70.5g.
The 67.5g was the best that I tried. At 100 a five shot group measured
.541 ctc. I didn't think that was bad for a stock gun with a trigger job.

Stretched it out to 560(max distance I can shoot at home)and shot a three shot group measuring 4.25.

I have some retumbo on order at the local gun shop. I'll be sure to give that a try when it arives.
