Terrapin PLRF05 or PLRF10

We have run the Terrapin side by side with the PLRF 10 and the Terrapin will do anything the 10 will and sometimes more. This was disappointing since you could own 2 Terrapins for what the PLRF10 cost. The 10 has some theoritical advantages over the Terrapin but in field use the Terrapin was every bit the RF that the PLRF 10 was. Like Broz said when we got ours the Terrapin wasn't available.

I had heard that they were equivalent from posts on other sites when I purchased my Terrapin, but it's good to get confirmation from a familiar and knowledgeable source.

It truely is a fantastic rangefinder.

I discovered a small problem with it a couple of weeks ago though......I wanted to range & shoot past 3000 yards

I couldn't range past 3000 yards but I could shoot that far

So if you want to range past 3000 get the PLR05 lightbulb

I never thought I would need to range past 3000 let alone try to shoot that far.

Here's some info on adding a doubler to your terrapin.

The Ashbury Precision Ordinance part # PLRF NVI does not direct fit a terrapin RF. It will need modified. It does allow for a very nice fit of the swaro doubler though. If you have the PLRF 10 I believe it is a direct fit. Get a machinist to do it for you. I can't explain it but here are some pics.

SH has some very good member with lots of knowledge. Problem is, for every one of them there are two mouth piece and another to agree that should keep quiet. If any one of them would push the envelope a little and try to range a coyote at a mile they would soon see why you want more than 6X. It is the only short coming of my PLRF10. You have to be very careful ranging small objects at ELR. I see the need for more magnification often with mine.

Some of the best shooters on the planet are also there..Terry Cross, David Tubbs, Zach Smith and a bunch of exceptional shooters.....Unfortunately there are a lot of hangers on and posers to go with that. There are also some pro shooters that can't stand the idea of using such things as bipods...Good Lord the rhetoric can be unbelievable!

Frank (SH owner) and a few other guys are aware of the shortcomings of the Terrapin/plf10 and have developed a trick platform to make it work. If you have a spotting scope with a crosshair they have a bracket that creates a adjustable co-witness (parallel actually) alignment between spotting scope and the Terrapin/Plf10/15....I can't find a link to it right now, but I am planning on buying on myself ($650.00 though!).

I think I prefer the down to earth approach of this site.
