Hello there hope all is well. I always been deeply profoundly involved in long range muzzeloading. A few years ago I purchased a new savage ml 10. Non smokeless.... After getting between .55-.80 groups using remington sts 209 primers with 200gr shockwave 150gr blackhorn 209 measured by a regular powder tube NOT WEIGHT . I ended up loosing my biggest buck because of those junk shockwave. They never opened up,after hitting a doe at 67yds it went right thru like a small pencil.. I say around 7 deer lost in a month.. So I headed back to cabelas and Fred suggested an attractive bullet called PRBULLETS MADE IN Canada . I tried .235 qt precision rifle bullets at 100yds after shooting 5 rounds I was on fire, thinking I missed and with disapointment I walked down range only to be shock at .46 5 shot group. My buddies jaw hit the floor. Luckily a friend had a pro chrony and we made a small bet at the velocity would be 2200 or 2300 max.. I know some of you won't believe me but 3 shots first 2609 fps 2nd. 2620 3rd 2608.. These bullets couldn't wait till 2011 season. I decided to have them shoot dead on at 200yds . I must say never never sight in a muzzleloader with lead sled you will get eradicate groups, stick with sand bags.. At 200yds my groups were around deer.65-.75. Still pretty **** good. Well making story short I shot a doe at@ 367 yds opening day in the bean fleid... I remember putting my third scope line on her shoulder, dropping her on spot... I love muzzeloadin and hunt with my savage in regular rifle season instead of rifle. I plan this year getting 500 yds shot on video and posting it..

Good shoot'n and great groups. I switched over and tried the Shockwave bullets when they first hit the market. They were accurate but, performance on deer was nothing short of miserable. The "pencil hole" problem is something that I've seen a lot of. I shot two does early that year and both went further with great shots, which penciled through. The same season and after I took the does, I had a perfect shot at a 160+, from a blind and standing in the same spot I'd shot many from. Long story short, that bullet penciled through and the deer made it to another property, where an invited guest seen it drop and claimed it. Nothing I could do when the buck was on another's property. I switched immediately back to Barnes and won't shoot anything else.

I shoot (or used to) very often but, limit shots to 250yds. I've burned up 4,000 rounds a year. Nothing like it IMO and can't wait to get back shoot'n. However..... I had to have emergency surgery on my shoot'n eye last Tuesday, for a detached and torn retina. The eye is full of gas, which may take months to completely disappear. Fortunately the tear wasn't in the center part of my vision, so no scars to worry about when trying to shoot.

Keep up the shoot'n but, post some target pics. Looking forward to a video.

Encore sorry for your incident, looking an eye is not good. I rather loose a finger.. But glad your okay.. I tried fir an hour to upload pictures but seems like I can't find it. I went to user panel and nothing there about pictures. It must be cell phone I ll try home computer Monday.. I took three pictures that I found in my memory card of phone. You should see the recovered bullet its nasty.. I found it in a chunk of bone and flesh matter 3 yds opposite lung..

There called precision rifle. QT 235 GR. .40/.50 cal polymer hollow point boat.. Cabelas used to sell them. But I spoke with Cecil app about 4 years ago the owner and he said Cabelas owned him hundreds of thousand dollars so he took them out of the stores.. I buy them directly from him.. Dude these bullet rock

Sidecar,

I have been using Precision Rifles bullets, both QT's and Dead Centers, for several years now. They were actually the first thing that I tried, and I loved the accuracy that they gave, and later during the hunting season I loved their killing ability. I'm probably never going to shoot anything else. It just sucks that Cabela's no longer carries them. I started ordering them directly from Precision Rifle. Them there Canadians make some good stuff, Aye!
