Are these meant for hunting like the hunting VLd's? Interested in the 230 308 berger for my 30-378.

Do they perform well on game? Any pictures experiences???????????????

They have a thicker jacket then the hunting VLD. Not recommended for hunting yet. However, some have been using them or hunting with great success.

If the link below works correctly it will take you to some pictures and info on a jacket thickness comparison that I did several months ago. I discovered that the 230 Hybrid "Target" has virtually the same jacket thickness as my 210VLD Hunting bullets. Can not comment on the OTM version, did not compare these. I would think he would want to use the Target version for the better B/C anyway, especially out of that 30-378.

Thank you for all the input guys. These are my first results with them.

POP,

We have been using these bullets all year long out of our 300 Ultra/EOL LRH model. This rifle has a 26" bbl and is getting right at 3000 fps with this bullet. We have killed African, New zealand, and North American Game with it, in total being conservative it has claimed: (2) KUDU (1) Impala (1) Nyala (1) Warthog (1) Bushbuck (1) Gemsbok (2) Red Stag (1) Ram (1) Tahr (1) Chamois (6) Elk (6) Deer (2) Bears, just that I can remember off the top of my head right now. This gives you a idea of the variation in size and game. Not one of these animals has taken more then 1 shot to kill, with this 30 caliber 230 grain Hybrid Target Bullet.

Hope this may give you a bit of confidence when you head to the field loaded up with these bullets!

Take care.

Yes sir it is standard 300 Ultra. We have altered the throat dimensions to optimize and work exclusively with the Berger Bullets, but no wildcatting to the case has been done at all.
