murderers creek oregon

hi has anyone hunted this area for before? i plan on going up there and archery hunt this year

Desolation is as close to Murderers Creek as I've hunted personally, but I've got a few buddies that fling sticks that really like Murderers Creek. I'll bet you do well if you pick the right week to go. It's been a weird rutt the last few years with super late springs, & drawn out summers. The Elk can't figure out if they're gonna rutt till the last week & a half of the season & come charging in all crazy eyed, or just shock bugle & stay put.
As usual, timing is everything. Good luck.

The Strawberry Wilderness has some great hunting (and elevation if hot) that gets you away from the crowds. There's a good trail system in the wilderness with multiple trailheads on the south side of the range...joaquim miller, east fork canyon creek, table mountain, buckhorn meadow, roads end...

Winmag echoes my experience with the elk in that area...timing seems to be everything. Sometimes I have to believe they're having their fun at night and laying low and quiet during the day.
