Lead times on match barrels ???????

Guys, has it always taken 16-20 weeks to get a stainless match barrel ? I am looking for a 243 Win in 1:8 twist varmint contour. Either for a large ring Mauser or for a Savage 10 / Axis. Barrels at Midway or Brownells tend to be Chrome Moly or the few they have in stainless are 1:10.

So far, Shilen, ER Shaw etc are in the 4-5 month window it seems.

Am I missing someone obvious ?

You can have a Hart blank in 8-10 weeks.

Depends when you place your order and the how busy the barrel makers are. I placed my order at Lilja in Jan and got it in 12 weeks as promised.

Yes, you are missing the obviuos,,,,,, custom barrels are in demand, like never before! Hart makes only blanks, no pre-threaded and chambered barrels. Your shortest route would be to buy a blank 'off the shelf' from a vendor and have a 'smith T,C,&C it for you.

I got two different barrels at two different times this year from benchmark and it was 30 days on a blank! Best barrels you can get. Savage prefits are like $450.

McGowen can get you a barrel in 30 days, although they seem to be getting more backed up also. I waited 6 months for a Shilen barrel. You have to be patient ordering a barrel. Right when you forget about it, the barrel shows up and it's like a nice surprise.

i ordered a savage barrel last month from e.r.shaw and said to look for it in 4 months,it didnt seem to matter what you had done to it thats just the lead time as of now.( still sucks though)

I ordered a Kreiger and turned my paperwork in for a suppressor on the same day, been right at 4 months. Wonder which will come in first?

Krieger has 1 in7.5 and 1 in 8 listed in their in inventory list. May not be the contour you want;but can ship in days.

Brunos shooters supply stocks a lot of Krieger barrels in a lot of contours to full bull. I got my 6.5 from them.
