Model 70 Extreme Weather

Just picked up a Model 70 EW in a 30-06. Wondering if anyone can let me know any good factory ammo that they have run thru this. Any suggestions would be great thanks.

Not the same caliber but another guy used Winchester ammo in his .325 with very good results. Let us know good or bad.

I roll my own, but when I did buy factory ammo, Fed Fusion always performed very well. From Deer, to Elk, to Bear, I was very pleased. (I have a closet full of Winchesters)
Just went out shootin two days ago, & my buddy was shootin Fusions from his new 300 & put 2 out of 3 touching at 500yds. & multiple touching groups of 3, & groups of 5 at 300. Needless to say, we were static! His rifle also liked Winchester Power Points, but he wanted a tougher bullet for Elk, so he went with the Fusion.
You might try Nosler ammo, if you wanna try Accubonds. I think Federal loads some too.
I have been more than happy with Accubonds in every rifle I load for so far, on paper, steel, & on game. But I've never tried em from a factory offering. They're my bullet of choice for my style of hunting.

I'd agree with this. Even though the Fusion may not be a "bonded" bullet it's pretty dang stout. My wife put a 180 grainer from a 30-06 through a moose a few years ago and it performed great. The last box of fusions I bought were considerably less money than premiums too.

They're bonded. Thus the name "Fusion" for the bonding process.
Ya, I love em. Never had a single problem with them with any animal I pulled the trigger on. Cost less, & exceeded expectations has been my experience with em.

I just got a new Winchester M70 30-06, mine is the sporter model with the blued barrel and walnut stock.

I picked up some Hornady Superformance 165 gr SST ammo on the $50 rebate they were offering with the rifle purchase. I usually load all my own ammo, but I can't match their velocities, so I tried it out in some of my other rifles and was really impressed. 100-200 FPS faster than any hand loads, and I my new winny puts it in about an inch + or - .050.

You should try the Barnes VOR-TX Ammo. A buddy of mine is shooting 1/2 MOA groups with his Savage Weather Warrior 300wsm using the VOR-TX loaded with 165 TTSXs.

For your 30-06 they offer 150 and 180 TTSX loads. Barnes was bought out by Remington a while back, so it loaded using Remington brass and primers.

I read an article where a guy inspected his once-fired Vor-tx brass and there was obviously some sorting going on as there was a high amount of consistency (weight, neck thickness, etc) with the 20 he inspected.

Your choice on which weight bullet to use, but I would start with the 150 for more velocity out of your 30-06.
