I have recently perfected a .243 reload recipe and managed to get the group size from the 1" factory group to under .3". I sourced some nightforce software for my PDA, chrono'd my reloads and set off down the farm with the gun.

I shoot on 3 farms that are backed onto each other and they are in a long valley that is over 1 mile long and I can easliy see rabbits on the far side of the valley using my binoculars. I lay there this afternoon with my rifle on the sandbags and waited till the bunnies started to show and the first one appeared at 575yds. I inputted the data onto my PDA and dialled in the target. Through my Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 the rabbit looked incredibly small and before I managed to set the cross hairs on him he bolted back down the hole. 10 minutes later he was back with his mate at the same range. I took my time and after what seemed like a eon I squeezed the trigger and I quickly got the scope back on the bunny to see him roll over. I was absolutely gobsmacked. After about 20 minutes another rabbit appeared and I ranged him and dialled him in the same, this one was at 650 yds, I squeezed the trigger and I watched as the round buried into the slope about 2-3" to the left of him. I had measured the wind at 5fps but obviously between me and the target the wind had been more causing the bullet to hit wide of the target. To my amazement the rabbit didn't bolt down the hole. He actually ran down the hill towards me. I ranged him again and this time he was at 625yds. I took 2 click off the windage set the reticule for dead center of target, squeezed the trigger and watched as the bunny rolled.

To say I am pleased just doesn't cut it. I am over the moon, I never thought I would be able to shoot at the ranges I have done so today.

AWESOME !!!

PS. Can anyone recommend a decent camcorder that can zoom in to see these hits so I can start to record my handiwork ?

Sounds like some good shootin'. What bullet and what twist? I've been looking for a bullet to extend the range on my 1:10 6mm/284.

.243 Tikka T3 Super Varmint with 1 in 10 twist.

Homeloaded Nosler Balistic Tip 80grain over 43grain H414.
