Uh well it actually did "unofficially" dethrone it. 280 is elk rifle and 270 is only a deer rifle

I've seen some elk that would beg to differ!!!

That being said, much as I am fond of the .270, for critters bigger than deer at this point I bypass the 270 and any 7mm along with it and am more of a 30 cal guy. .300 Winnie…or .358 Norma…

Much like O'Connor I will reluctantly admit the .280 is the more versatile cartridge if you handload…I acknowledge the ballistic efficiency of the 7mms but don't have a use for them simply because I started out with a .270 and then a .300 win mag so for me they'd be a redundant addition to my collection that don't really do anything my current chamberings can't do.

Were I starting over today, who knows, perhaps a 7mm of some kind would intrigue me.

It just doesn't feel right for me to pick on the creedmoor anymore. It was fun a year ago but not now. I can't say why or mean people will pick on me.
