Post your personal favorite 30 cal or 338 cal cartridge for either hunting or at the range. Also include your favorite bullet and load to run with it! Feel free to mention any success you've had with it as well. Anything goes, standard action, short action, magnums, wildcards. Let's see what everybody likes. I'll start and go ahead and get the "boring" and "slow" stuff out of the way. I've never gone wrong with my .30-06 running a 180 NP over 56.5 gr H4350.

Well my forever favorite is a 30-06 with a 180 Partition, never has it failed me to kill anything I ever shot with it. I have not loaded for it in at least 20 years and don't remember the powder just it uses R-P cases and CCI250 primers. That being said my first 338 (338 Edge) is being built right now so I dont have one yet. If I was going to pick one.....338WM...probably even after using the 338 Edge.

I think I'd have to say my 308. It's a jack of all trades and master of none LOL. It's near and dear to my heart for a couple reasons.

The 300wm is a great round and capable of doing a lot but so is the 3006.

Now my new 30 Nosler is gaining traction with the Berger's im loading for it.

But the 308 stays atop for me. I know I know......

Love my 30N with a 205 Elite Hunter (3020 fps)…using N565 it kicks more than my 30-06 but is more of a shove and feels lighter than the 30-06 (N560, Berger 185 VLD at 2900 fps). 30-06 is much sharper and honestly less pleasant to shoot than the 30N, but I don't use the 30N too much given barrel life.

Current favorite is 300 PRC no load data to share haven't shot any hand loaded ammo for it yet. It shoots ridiculously well with Hornady Match ammo. 338 lapua was on my short list when I bought this rifle but the cheaper reloading costs finally swayed me and we can only shoot to about 1200yds on our normal range so a lot of the benefits of the 338 Lapua wouldn't really be required at that range.

Even though my moniker states that I am a magnum fan….I never pass up the opportunity to hunt with my either my new Marlin 336 stainless or my old Win 94 in 30-30. There's just something nostalgic about it.
My new 300 RUM is also proving to be a winner, but my all time favourite has to be the 5 300WM rifles I own.
I also have my Pop's 348Win, but it is beat up and needs restoration.

My favourite 338 has to be the good 'ole 338WM, although I do own a custom in 338-06 and 338-416 Rigby Improved 45°.

Cheers.

The 308 Win is my favorite too. Easy to load for, fun to shoot, good practice for reading the wind at distance. The family got it for me when I got back from the Army in 1991. So I'm pretty biased.

Same here on .308, but do go .300Winmag

From a 300bo, 308win and 300wm all are fun, but hard to pick 1. Light weight 110-150 bullets for the bo. 135-180 in 308win. 170-230 for 300wm. Only 1 33cal, savage110 338lm (24"). Possibly going to change barrel length or just build another? Longer barrel will be shooting 270+ gr while the shorter will use 230-265gr. Maybe after QB (quick build) I might have a better offering for the 33cal?
