Replacing the firing spring on my 30 year model 70 Winchester.
best I can tell the OEM is 23lbs

midway has one at 25 lbs and one at 30 lbs.
any thought on weight choices. Pros and cons

also is there any better spring out there.

thanks.

Depends on your intended purpose. A stronger spring will have a stiffer bolt lift, quicker lock time, and possibly lower ES. I'd probably leave it, I put a 30 pound spring in a Mauser and it was STIFF. Wouldn't want it on a hunting rifle as follow up shots would be hindered.

Thanks. For the price I may try both. They are cheap at midway. I will say that a 30 year spring is much shorter than the 25 lb new spring. I was very surprised.
