Buddy of mine found this on an old ranch in the Texas Hill Country.......

I used to have a .22 that sometimes did not shoot on the first shot. Not wanting to waste good money (farm kid) i would just turn the round and try again. Looks like that's what happened here.
He said this looks to be quite a bit bigger than a 22
 
Here is an early Henry copper cartridge with two, dual strikes. It was still a dud.... The early ammo was copper cases instead of brass. I found this one stuffed into a crack of a hand-hewn log house near Kiowa, Colorado while remodeling/restoring it. The ranch is where a bunch of settlers gathered during an indian uprising shortly before the Sand Creek Massacre. I kinda think they shot it twice at the marauding redskins, without it going 'bang'.....
