What is everyone favorite caliber for deer?

Depending on my mood I love using my 270wsm or my 35 Wsm both hit like Thor!

Purely personal preference since anything from .223 on up works if you know it's limitations.
My favorite caliber for deer is probably 270 Win or 308. I have used 260 and 6.5 CM as well. Just something tugs at me to grab my 270. My 270 WSM's looks at me like "come on already!"... lol

Love my custom Mark V 270 Roy. Have had great success with 79 gr of RL 25 behind 140 gr Winchester Failsafe bullets (long discontinued), of which I have a great supply. Antelope, deer (muley and whitetail), sheep (Desert, Dall's, Rocky Mtn (2), and she came along for two Stone's hunts and didn't pop a cap ( sucks big time). JM

My 270 Roy shoots well too. Although I've never used it on deer yet.

Where do you live Capt? I can promise you the 270 Roy will do the job right for you when the opportunity arises. Good luck. JM

Sadly in Houston
My regular hunting lease I'm lucky to get a 200 yard shot. Most are 150 max, so 260, 6.5 CM, 308 or even the 270 smacks good enough.
I save my LR rigs for western TX or out west.

Swede! Although I have a 250AI I'm fond of too! This picture is from last year. The target was checking zero the day before.
