What is an 22 243

The original 22-243 was developed by Paul Middlested, of San Diego, in 1965. As noted, it's just the .243 case necked down to .224. The .243 case body remains the same but the shoulder angle is increased to 30 degrees.

FWIW, I've had good results with H414 in all my big case varmint cartridges, and using only one powder (and a ball powder, at that) makes reloading a lot easier.
A 224 sitting in 308 casing just like the 243, which your already wild catting.
