I am looking for a Leica 8x42HD binocular or a Swar 8x42 slc hd, seems everyone has demo's or open box. I find it hard to believe there can be that many dealer samples or demo's. I wonder if demos may be bino that sold and returned because the customer wanted to compare or just try them out. Is there a disadvantage to buying demo binos.

So have I. both scopes and binoculars. I think they claim if the factory seal on the box is gone it has to be sold as a demo. I think too that they buy new old stock of discontinued models and sell them as demos.
Have purchased "Demo" scopes from Camera Land NY. No issues and a good deal in my mind.

I have purchased a few demos and all have been in pristine condition.

x2 - I won't hesitate to buy a demo unit, especially from Cameralandny.com

Demo units are usually opened and handled for 1 - 3 days.........could be touched by 1 person, or 20 - 30, but usually in 99.8% new condition with no scatches on lenses.
