So just wondering mechanically how everyone feels about this line from vortex? I'm talking repeat ability, return to zero, etc. I know some may feel that the glass itself may be short of the higher end stuff IE NF. I need to outfit a few rifles and more than a couple of NF'S is out of my ability $ wise.

I recently replaced all of my vx-3's on my customs with The HSLR 6-24, and so far have been very impressed. Repeat ability, durability, and "feel" of the turrets has been remarkable. I used one of these to kill a bull this December in -20 degrees temps with 35 mph winds. The mechanics were very dependable, and the xlr retical was perfect for adjusting for the wind. I truly believe, for me, they are the best scope for hunters at that price point.

I've been running a HS-LR for a since they came out and it's been flawless! I'm extremely brutal on rifles, this scope has been on two 338 RUM's, 270 WSM and my 6.5 SS and has a couple thousand rounds and a lot of road hard days. I have no issue using my scope as a handle and throwing into the truck, bash a mountain road and pull it out, dialing 20+ moa and toasting an elk. A Nightforce it is not but it owes me nothing!!!

Have any of you that own the HS LR with 1/2 MOA elevation adjustment had heart burn sighting in on targets and wished it was 1/4 MOA or .1 mil?

Considering that the farthest you could be off is around 1/4moa @ 1000 it has been a non issue for me. I had some concern in the beginning as well, but soon found that the adjustments weren't to course for me, especially for a hunting scope. The gains in speed using the 1/2 moa adjustments are nice.

I get a little annul some times when shooting targets (4-16 HSLR) and mumble about the 1/2 MOA adjuster but bought it to go on a hunting rifle so it does what it was designed for very well. Have used it over a year now and the only complaint is the eye focus knob would not stay where I put it so made a spacer the proper width when its focused and sense doing that it stays where I put it.

would be my only complaint is the eye focus wouldn't mind seeing the spacer you made. the 1/2 turrets have been a non issue for me

A guy could use in O-ring and put behind for the spacer. you can get different thicknesses diameters etc. per your application and gap of focus ring.

Before you guys spend any money rigging up a spacer for your ocular focus, try my method: black electrical tape twice around the eyepiece and back of the scope tube, neatly covering the gap, and still fits nicely under a Butler Creek cap. As far as any concerns over the 1/2 moa turret, the review of the Huskemaw 1/3 moa adjustment (see the list of reviews on homepage) covers the issue fairly well. The short version is you won't be far enough off the "perfect" drop dope to make any meaningful difference in the outcome of the shot if you are hunting anything larger than a chipmunk... even at 1000yds... and if you buy the FFP model, the reticle center has a very fine dot and a small space around it that will allow you to hold less than a 1/4 moa correction if you insist upon utter perfection.

I have a 4-16 HS-T with mil adjustments. I was a little leery about buying one because the Viper series does not have as good a reputation for mechanical reliability as some of it's competitors. But, with the listed features at that price point, I just had to give one a try.

So far, it has not let me down. I put it on a tracking board and tracking and RTZ were accurate, as are the reticle subtensions. Subtensions can also be used at 8x and 4x by doubling or quadrupling the value as appropriate.

I also have a Bushnell LRHS on order, with the plan of flipping the HS-T to cover the cost. I'm not so sure any more. The HS-T has been good enough for me that it is going to be hard to let it go…

I'm still bouncing around between the HS-T, the HS-LR, and the PST. Got a friend a PST FFP 4-16 recently and it's a very nice optic.
