What's a good lower to build on for the Valkyrie?

I think you mean feed-ramps... The .224 Valkyrie barrel blank should already have the proper barrel extension installed on it for a drop-in build (like almost all non-custom AR barrels). And when you order a .224 Valkyrie barrel, it should come with a properly headspaced bolt.

If you're talking feed-ramps, then you are talking about magazines, and from what I've read any standard 6.5 Grendel magazine should work just fine, and you should not need a special shim kit.
