Is there anywhere to buy just a Tikka action vs the whole rifle?
Considering/beginning stages of a 6.5x284 norma...
Wanting to try one out

Short answer is no.

Been there before!

I have bought 2 Tikka's as donors & although I didn't change barrels I did change out the stocks.

Would be great if they did though! !

I've bought a donor rifle for $400, sold the stock, BM, and mag for about $100. Walked away with a $300 action and trigger. My Smith opened up the bolt face to a magnum and soldiered fora small tab under the extractor to give it some more stand off for $100. I bought a Carbon Six barrel and rented a reamer from Rich Sherman. It turned out great. Nailed an antelope at 600yds with it two weeks ago. 147 ELDM at 3000 fps. Because this was successful I bought another Tikka in 270 and took the bolt out. Sold the remainder of the rifle for $200 in about 18 hours. Now I have a standard bolt face to go with it. I ordered a 22 BR barrel from McGowen. These are shouldered and chambered prefits. Cerakoted with muzzle threads it cost about $450. During the off season I'll screw the 22 BR barrel on and shoot 88 ELDMs

I have a nice barrel I picked up ready to go onto a Tikka action and have been looking for one. I've come to same conclusion, will need to just buy the whole riffle. Need to do it sooner than later because Tikka's aren't getting any cheaper. Won't use any of my current Tikka's because they all shoot too well.

tikka is one of my favorite actions, I usually just buy the lower end rifle for roughly 500 and sell the barrel and stock for about 150-200

now you have a $300 action that is ready to go. love them,
